Equity for our Veterano heroes NOW
Wednesday, September 22, 2004
HR677 only needs 22 more signers to be moved onto the house floor. The house is going to close in less than a couple weeks, so NOW is the time for action if this bill is to be passed.
An entire generation of brave Filipino men who fought alongside American soldiers in World War II have been forgotten by the American government, and denied Veteran status. This means that the American promises of US citizenship, of bringing their family over here, and of access to government healthcare services never happened. Filipinos are the ONLY group who this happened to.
The following message comes from Jun Cruz of Student Action for Veteran Equity. I urge you to visit their website if you'd like more information on the cause. In the meanwhile, please FAX and call your local representative and those mentioned in her message. This will make a real difference. Click here for the contact info of Californians who haven't signed on to the cause.

Support the Action in Washington D.C. This Tuesday! Less than two weeks to go.
These California Representatives have not signed onto HR677 the Filipino Veterans Equity Act and need to be contacted. Tell their staff that you are a registered voter and a resident in their district. Leave a message saying, "Tell my congressperson that Filipino WWII Veterans defended this nation's freedom and deserve Justice and Equity NOW! There is no excuse for HR677 to sit in sub-committee when it has 197 co-sponsors and 5 to 7 Filipino Veterans dying a day. Any congress person who does not sign onto this bill will not get my vote in the next election!"
You can find their contact info in the California section of www.fullequitynow.com.
While your at it please contact Chris Smith's, the Chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee and give him a piece of your mind.
