The Davis Tsunami Relief Fund
There is event to fundraise money for the Tsunami that has devastated
South East Asia. As the death toll continues to increase, it is apparent
that this is the hugest environmental disaster to hit the world in our
lifetime. Anything that we can do to help should be done.
Along these lines, there will be a fundraiser at Cantina del Cabo on
January 23, 2005 where 100% of all funds raised will be going toward
Tsunami relief. The money will be donated to the Rotary International, an
international service organization that has a division in Davis as well as
in Sri Lanka and Indonesia. With this connection, we will be able to see
exactly how the donation is being spent and how it will benefit those in
need.
Here's the breakdown:
· What is it? This is a fundraising dinner where 100% of all funds will go
towards helping Tsunami Relief through Rotary International.
· Where and when is it? Cantina del Cabo, 139 G Street, Davis on Sunday
January 23, 2005 from 12pm until 9pm
· How can I go and help? Buy tickets to the event! Tickets are as follows,
$25 for adults, $15 for students and children. Tickets are available
through The Davis Food Co-op, Davis Chamber of Commerce, B&L Bike Shop,
and Cantina del Cabo. If you are in a group or organization get your
tickets from the Chamber of Commerce or Cantina.
·Anything else I can do? Of course!
o You can sell tickets as well if you go to Cantina or the Chamber
of Commerce (right across from Cantina), sign for the tickets, and return
the money or extra tickets back to those locations.
o You could also agree to participate as an individual, business or
organization sponsor. Further details can be found at
DavisTsunamiReliefFund.com or by calling (530) 756-2226.
· How much will this Really help?
o If Davis Tsunami Relief Fund makes its goal, they will raise
$50,000 in donations for this cause.
· All checks should be made out to the "Davis Tsunami Relief Fund"
· Extra Donations are always appreciated, as well.
Is there anything MORE I can do? There will be a meeting this Sunday,
tomorrow, January 8, 2005 at Cantina at 7pm for those of you that want to
help contribute ideas or to help during the event.
Thank you, and I hope many of you can contribute to this event!
Please do all you can to help the survivors of the December 26 Tsunami.
